YOU'VE GOT QUESTIONS, WE'VE GOT ANSWERS
Q – What are some common reasons patients come to Lake Washington Sports & Spine?
A- Our doctors are tendon, ligament and fascia experts: they treat any musculoskeletal problem. Some common examples include frozen shoulder, hip bursitis, knee arthritis, ankle sprain, back pain, neck injuries & nerve problems. We are your one-stop shop for acute sports injuries.
Q – What is the one thing that patients need to know about Lake Washington Sports & Spine?
A – While it may be counter-intuitive to say this, “Our clinic is not for everyone.” Patients that are ready to actively engage in their treatment make great partners and they typically receive very positive outcomes. Patients that want us to, “Do the work for them and also prescribe pain medication” are not going to be happy with our clinic because that is not what we do. Focusing on what we do well improves the experience for the actively engaged.
Q – Are the doctors completely honest with patients?
A – Absolutely. Our doctors, “Call it as they see it!" That means telling patients when they are overweight, under-muscled, carry a poor posture, have poor eating habits, not getting enough rest and needing to simplify their lifestyle.
Q – Are the doctors compassionate?
A – While our doctors are compassionate individuals, this is within the context of truly wanting to return patients to an active physical lifestyle quickly. They do not respond to escalating emotional urgency as do other health care systems. They are focused on helping patients restore their physical well-being.
Q – Is Lake Washington Sports & Spine a low-cost provider?
A – Our goal is to identify the best care that accelerates your return to physical activity. We are strictly focused on finding the best possible treatment and NOT the cheapest, though we will discuss options.
Q – Is Lake Washington Sports & Spine beholden to other medical facilities?
A – Absolutely not. The doctors are not beholden to others, they are independently minded consultants with no conflict of interest. Larger organizations have sports medicine clinics whose doctors are paid more to refer patients internally to system-owned imaging and therapy centers. Unlike these organizations, we are strictly focused on making sure you’re getting the best care, period!
Q – Is there something that would surprise a new patient that I should know about?
A – Yes indeed. Don’t be surprised when we spend more time with your during your visit. For example, we’ve heard this can be off-putting to patients that don’t know we spend 45 minutes or more during an initial patient interview.
Q – I heard a dog barking during my phone call. What’s up with that?
A – We employ 1 full-time and 2 part-time dogs in our clinic. We think they enhance the patient experience and certainly increase our happiness. Don’t tell anyone but they are paid below minimum wage. Dog treats go a long way towards their happiness!
